I got the heels from a Payless that was going out of business near me for $4! Can’t complain about that! I figured they would be a good test subject to start with. A quick trip to the craft store to pick up some rhinestones (regular, I’m not paying all that money for Swarovski just yet!) and some highly recommended “Jewel It” Embellishing glue. That is all I had to buy! I used my DIY Rhinestone Pick Up Stick I made for another project. It is ridiculously easy to make, ready to use immediately, and I KNOW you have everything on hand already. Go check it out.
Here is the glue I used:
The great thing I found about using this glue is that is dries slowly, and clear! This means you can move around and keep playing with your rhinestone placement until you find what you like. I put small amounts on at a time by directly applying the glue onto the side of the shoe heel, and spreading it around with the tip. A little goes a long way here!
So here is what the shoes looked like BEFORE I did anything. You can tell they are kind of “meh” quality (No bashing Payless, $4 heels are awesome) but they are not stellar quality either.
A few shots during the process:
Finished looks after a night of drying:

Not bad for a first go at DIY Rhinestone Heels huh?
If you have been thinking about taking this project on yourself, DO IT! It was so much fun and its awesome wearing your shiny new bling’d out shoes and getting TONS of compliments on shoes you designed!
Love,

Wow this is really great!! Thank you very much for sharing <3 I was looking at shoes for sale on etsy.com to purchase this weekend and was sooo disappointed to see people selling rhinestone shoes made in China (claiming to have handmade them). I think I am going to give this a try and make my own shoes.
Oh I know! I've noticed a lot of shops that are selling pretty dresses on there too, saying they are handmade, when they clearly aren't. But now that Etsy has relaxed it's rules a little, I think we are going to be seeing more of it 🙁 I hope yours turn out beautiful, and if you need any help, let me know! I'm more then happy to help 🙂
