Can you believe it’s been twenty YEARS since the first Harry Potter movie came out?! I remember people losing their minds trying to get tickets, the lines of people dressed up waiting to get into the theaters, it was crazy times! I remember going to the book releases, all the kids dressed up in their makeshift robes, parents exhausted because why the heck are they at a Barnes and Noble at midnight in the middle of the week….
Now that all the kids like me who grew up with the magic of the Wizarding World are all adults. It’s time to represent our house colors in a stylish, adult way. This is my interpretation of what a Hogwarts alumni from the Slytherin house would put out to celebrate the start of a new term, perhaps as a family dinner the night before the kids get dropped off at the Hogwarts Express. Of course, those witches and wizards probably would just use their wand to put everything in it’s place. Thankfully for us muggles, it’s very simple to put together!
Here’s my quick video showing you how this look came together:
I love a good thrift store find, and thankfully I was able to find this super cool tea light votive holder that worked out to be the perfect focal of my table. And of course, I had to add in a few sneaky snakes into the tablescape!

If you’ve seen most of my latest tablescapes, you’ll know I’ve been really enjoying the convenience and flexibility that wall tapestries offer a rented home like mine. I can put these up and take them down with basic thumb tacks, and then fold them and store them easily when they aren’t used. I found a Slytherin tapestry that was a perfect addition to the look, don’t you think?

The most unexpected element in this table decor design is the mirror vinyl runner. This gem was found at my local Hobby Lobby in the clearance section, and I snatched it up as soon as I saw it. It’s not a perfect mirror finish, which I love because it adds texture and interest to the design without being too overwhelming and reflective.
