Alessandra, event designer and creator of A Sparkly Life for Me

Hi, I’m Alessandra — and I believe life is too short to be ordinary.

I’m an event designer with fifteen years of hands-on experience turning blank venues, backyard patios, and dining room tables into places people can’t stop photographing. A Sparkly Life for Me is where I’ve documented that obsession for more than a decade — from my earliest DIY projects to full wedding and event design concepts.

The short version

If over-the-top, maximalist, and elaborately themed design makes your heart sing, we’re going to get along. I’ve built Bridgerton dinner parties with a handmade wisteria tree, jewel-encrusted Christmas trees, Slytherin dinner parties for grown-ups, and more tablescapes than my storage closet forgives me for. Every design on this site — whether photographed in my home or rendered as a concept — comes with the same designer brain behind it: color theory, layering, scale, and a firm belief that “too much” is a starting point, not a warning.

What you’ll find here

The Design Library is the heart of the site: hundreds of wedding, party, and celebration concepts organized by occasion and season. I create these concept visuals with AI tools (I’m always transparent about that — you’ll see it noted on every post), then break each one down the way I would for a real client: the palette, the materials, the rental pieces, the DIY alternatives, and the tricks that make it work at real-world budgets.

The DIY archive is the older, messier, very real side of the blog — projects I actually built, photographed step by step. That hands-on experience is exactly why I can look at a concept image and tell you which parts a florist will love and which parts will make your venue coordinator sweat.

The YouTube channel is where I go deep: 100+ videos of tutorials, decorate-with-mes, and full design breakdowns at my YouTube channel.

My story

Alessandra on site styling a live event

Events have been part of my life since before I knew they could be a career — I grew up in a family that hosted everything: holidays, church parties, celebrations of every size. In college I started working events on the catering and wedding side, fell hard for the industry, and switched paths entirely — I hold a bachelor’s degree in Event Management, and I got my professional education in one of the most demanding event markets in the world: central Florida. Think large-scale corporate events, intimate VIP gatherings, and celebrations at the theme parks and the area’s most beautiful resort hotels — the kind of volume and variety that teaches you fast.

Somewhere along the way I realized my favorite part wasn’t the logistics — it was the design. The moment a ballroom or a backyard becomes unrecognizable, that’s my moment. This blog actually predates my career; I started it in college while deciding between marketing and events, and it’s evolved right alongside me. These days, the parties, weddings, and holiday celebrations steal the show — which is exactly how I like it.

Beyond the blog

You can also find me on Pinterest and Instagram, and my flag designs on Etsy. For interiors lovers: my home-design side lives at Room Biomes — bold rooms, dopamine decorating, same designer brain.
